Trier-Euren, St. Helena

Renovierung der Späth-Orgel (1966) | III/30 | 2013

The church of St Helena in Trier-Euren was built in 1874-6 in the neo-gothic style. As a building it is not best suited to the needs of congregational worship, but has a decisive presence in the Euren district and is visible from afar. Although the church appears to hide itself from pedestrians, its tall tower and spire dominate the town silhouette.

Further information may be found on the church’s homepage: www.Pfarrei-Euren.de/Pfarrkirche-Helena.html

The organ on the west gallery was built as Opus 819 by our firm in 1966 by Dr Karl Späth.

In 2013 we were very proud to be able to restore this instrument by our forefathers in the context of a renovation of the church interior. The organ was thoroughly cleaned and the electrical stop action brought up to present-day safety standards. The voicing was checked throughout and the wind system stabilized. In addition a new setter system was installed to facilitate performance of the concert repertoire. However, the original free combinations remain in situ.
