Stuttgart-Ost, Neuapost. Kirche

Neubau | III/28 | 2010 | Opus 995

The church, built in 1937, showed both structural as well as functional shortcomings and did not meet the needs of today's active community life. The entire building, and with it the organ, was extensively renovated and modernized.
The models for the new organ were the late barock instruments of J N Holzhey, such as those at Rot-an-der-Rot and Neresheim. For that reason the organ has no swellbox, but instead three manuals of contrasting tone and power, comprising 33 stops.
The action is mechanical throughout, with 7 couplers including a superoctave coupler to manual II. The case is made up of wood and zinc pipes dating from 1937, with the central flat re-arranged in its original pattern.
There are 1,796 pipes in all, of which none are new but assembled from existing material and other used material.
